Updated: Nov 19

At Bertha’s Place, we have introduced a groundbreaking journaling course aimed at empowering survivors through self-expression and emotional healing.

At Bertha’s Place, we have introduced a groundbreaking journaling course aimed at empowering survivors through self-expression and emotional healing.

The inaugural module, held last Friday, saw a group of ten vibrant women come together to explore the transformative power of journaling.

The course, facilitated by Florence and Derby, provided participants with a safe and supportive space to delve into their thoughts and feelings.

Through a series of engaging activities, including writing exercises, emotional weather reports and visualisation techniques, participants were encouraged to connect with their inner selves and process their experiences.

One participant, affectionately known as Vovo, expressed her enthusiasm for the course, stating, “Although I’m not ready to write down everything I’ve been through, I believe journaling will help me gradually open up and process my emotions.”

Nyasha, another participant, shared her gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the course, saying, “This course will help me cope with stress and find solace in writing.” The course has six modules in total, which will be held biweekly.

Journaling offers a unique avenue for survivors to express themselves without judgment, explore their emotions, and develop coping mechanisms. By regularly documenting their thoughts and feelings, survivors can gain a deeper understanding of their experiences, identify patterns, and work towards healing.

Bertha’s Place is committed to providing comprehensive support to GBV survivors. The journaling course is just one of many initiatives aimed at empowering survivors and fostering resilience. As we continues to expand our services, we remain dedicated to creating a safe and supportive environment where survivors can heal and thrive.
