Our Activities

On 1 August 2026, Bertha’s Legacy delivered Teen Talk, a community-based version of our healthy relationships workshop held in a residential setting. The event was well attended and gave teenagers a relaxed, supportive space to discuss relationships, boundaries, respect, consent and the difference between care and control.

Using the SAFE framework, participants learned to See healthy and harmful behaviour, Ask questions about pressure and expectations, Form boundaries and relationship standards, and Embody respectful behaviour in their everyday lives. Interactive discussions encouraged them to examine the messages they receive from friends, family, culture and social media rather than accepting those messages without question.

It was particularly encouraging to see a large number of teenage boys attend and participate openly in the conversations. Preventing gender-based violence requires boys and young men to be included in discussions about respect, accountability and healthy relationships. Their willingness to listen, contribute and reflect demonstrated the value of creating spaces where all young people can learn together.
