Domestic or Intimate Partner Abuse

Domestic or intimate partner abuse involves a pattern of abusive behavior used by one partner to gain or maintain control over another in a close relationship. This can include physical, emotional, psychological, sexual, and economic abuse, and it often occurs in romantic partnerships, marriages, or cohabiting situations.

In these relationships, the abuser seeks to dominate the victim by instilling fear, dependence, and a sense of helplessness. Tactics such as emotional manipulation, isolation from loved ones, and financial control are often employed to ensure that the victim feels trapped in the relationship.

It’s important to recognize that no one deserves to feel this way, and there are people and resources ready to help those in these situations reclaim their lives.
