Physical Abuse

Physical abuse is any action meant to hurt someone physically, often linked to their gender or how society perceives their gender role. This can include hitting, slapping, punching, kicking, or using weapons to inflict harm. In the context of gender-based violence, physical violence is frequently used to gain control, instill fear, or punish the victim, reinforcing harmful power dynamics in relationships, families, and communities.

It’s heartbreaking to realize that this violence can also happen in public spaces or institutions, where societal norms and expectations contribute to ongoing abuse against certain groups.

The impact of physical violence extends far beyond visible injuries; it can lead to lasting psychological trauma, emotional distress, and feelings of isolation for those affected.

It’s essential to acknowledge the courage it takes for victims to navigate their experiences and seek support.
